Dear Squirt (Third Trimester)

Dear Squirt,

I literally cannot believe we’re almost there! We are days away from meeting you, sweet boy, and your daddy and I are so excited! We’ve waited so long, but at the same time, it seems like time has flown by. This trimester has been full of so many good things, including moving into and getting settled into our new home, starting our new LifeGroup, getting maternity pictures taken, finishing our birthing classes, touring the hospital birthing center, three amazing baby showers, and celebrating your grandma’s 60th birthday!

We’ve started our once a week prenatal visits and everything still looks great! You’re always wiggling and our OB doctor comments about your wiggles every time she tries to get your heart-rate. But your head is down, and we’re just playing the waiting game now! We made it to term last week (37 weeks), so anytime you decide to come is great, although I’m all about waiting the full 40 weeks, with all of the benefits that will provide for you.

Squirt, you’ve made this whole pregnancy thing so easy on your mama. We joke that it’s been harder on your dad because of my extra-sensitive emotions. For someone who already cries fairly easily, that’s been a little rough. But honestly, I can count on one hand the number of times I felt any nausea during this pregnancy, and I can also count on one hand the number of times I’ve had to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I know; that’s unheard of! However, the hardest part of the third trimester has definitely been the heartburn and indigestion. I’ve had to make TUMS a regular part of my bedtime routine, and even then I have occasionally still woken up in the middle of the night with terrible acid reflux. But I sit up, get a drink of water, and it’s better again. It’s a bummer, but it’s so worth it for you, little guy.

In this trimester you've also started hearing mama teach high school Bible. You've gotten to hear your daddy teach and preach ever since you were conceived (or at least ever since you were able to hear), but it's cool to think about how much of God's Word you are getting exposed to now on a daily basis. I'm praying that your love for the Lord and His Word begins early and you become a little theologian, and surrender your life to Christ from a very early age. His ways are higher than your ways, Squirt. I pray you learn that young.

Like I mentioned, we got some maternity pictures taken by my cousin, Karlee. She did such a wonderful job and we were so blessed by her generosity in doing so. Here are a few of our favorites.

We can’t wait to meet you, Squirt, but we’re trying to be patient! We just keep praying for you to stay healthy and strong, and for labor and delivery to go smoothly. We will continue praying to that end until we finally get to meet you and see your sweet face! We love you so much, little guy, and we’re already so blessed to be your parents! See you soon!

All my love,

Mama
