Recap
Four years ago I started hearing about this place called Moody Bible Institute. I didn’t know much about it except that a couple pretty cool people were checking it out and planning to attend there the following fall, so I decided to check it out, too. That March I completed my application and scheduled a campus visit. After checking it out I knew this was where I wanted to be, there was just one problem: I had been placed on the waiting list. So began a four-month period of time in which I had no idea what I was doing with my life. I had a wonderful job that I loved and would be able to keep if I stayed in the area, but I also had the offer of playing volleyball at Moody if I made it in, which was a huge draw for me. I went through that whole summer in complete uncertainty as to what my future held. Finally, after months of waiting to hear from Moody, I decided it was useless to keep hoping. So I began to consider other options and look into classes at the community college I had attended the year before. Then one Monday (the day AFTER I should have been at Moody) I got a call saying there was room for me and I should pack up and come. So I did just that! After packing most of the night, my parents and I drove to Chicago the next day and I began a whirlwind experience known as Moody Bible Institute undergrad.
I was so blessed to be able to room with a friend from back home who was a freshman and we quickly became inseparable. We also met another girl on our floor that first week and the three of us soon became known as “the trinity” (with a little “t”, obviously). My first two years were spent goofing off, learning a ton, having crazy theological debates and conversations, learning a ton, being challenged on a daily basis, learning a ton, and doing a lot of fun stuff. My third and fourth years were spent in more serious academic pursuits, as I realized college was not all fun and games. I played volleyball my first year at MBI and loved it, just didn’t have the time and commitment for such a hectic schedule.
I’ve made a lot of really great friends here, studied the Bible more than I ever imagined I would, caused some rules to be added to the SLG (three, to be exact), and met my fiancé, all here at Moody. I wouldn’t trade my experiences here for anything. It has been more challenging than I ever expected, I have struggled through some tough stuff, but I am so grateful for the community of believers here. The students are incredible, the professors are even more incredible, and the academics are rigorous. I have thoroughly loved my time here.
And now, just for the sake of reminiscing and nostalgia, here’s a walk down Moody’s Memory Lane, since I have been here:
