Worthy Celebration

A couple days ago the long-awaited, highly-anticipated birth of the British prince came to a culmination when he was introduced to the world outside of the hospital where he was born. Then, the world waited in anticipation for his name to be announced. He is already celebrated and appears to be well-loved. I, also, celebrated the birth of this little guy. At first, simply for the historical significance his birth provides; but more so for the simple fact that he is a baby, not only allowed to live, but joyously celebrated. His parents are joined by many other celebrators. As I observe on every news channel more updates on the "royal baby", I am, however, saddened. Maybe I am jaded by my career in a pregnancy help center where so many babies are unwanted. Maybe I am overly sensitive because of the large quantity of calls I get every day from young women devastated by the news that they are pregnant. Maybe I am cynical because I get phone calls from desperate young men wondering what their rights are concerning their unborn child, whom the girlfriend wants to abort. These calls still get to me.

The biggest celebration for me would come on the day the young woman, who has gotten pregnant from rape, decides to give life to her beautiful baby. The celebration will happen when the abortion minded young woman who is 22-weeks pregnant decides to keep her baby alive. A celebration will certainly ensue when the 15 year old girl decides to give her baby life, and a childless couple fresh hope. These are no longer scenarios in my studies, these are real people, with real struggles, and real babies' lives on the line.

Like I said, I celebrate the birth of Britain's newest prince. However, the biggest celebration will occur on the day lives are spared from this horrible infanticide, and abortion is no longer an option. I will greatly celebrate that day.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..." Jeremiah 1:5
